Easter traditions

I thought it would be fun to share some of our family Easter traditions and things we love. For me, I like to try to find a balance of teaching the importance of what Easter really means and also having enjoyable traditions we all look forward to.

  1. Something to Create - Easter Banner

This banner was super simple to make and we hang it every year. If you have crafty kids in your family, this is a perfect activity to make together!

2. Something we Love - Egg-Mazing Mini

We love this and have had it for years and it is still going strong. It is fun and even the littlest kids can easily get involved. It spins your boiled eggs and comes with markers that you can color while it is spinning. The best part is the minimal mess and it still creates fun and colorful eggs!

I picked up these teal blue vintage egg cups several years ago to display our colored eggs and they are still some of my favorite items I own.

3. Something to Read -

Adults - He Did this Just for You by Max Lucado

Kids - The Story of Easter by Jean Miller

I love to reread this Max Lucado book each year. It’s short and sweet and reminds me of the magnitude of what Christ did and he makes it personal.

Oftentimes we can take for granted or generalize the story of the cross, when He did it for you and me!

The children’s book is nothing new and revolutionary but we love the Little Golden Books and this one is no different.

It’s straightforward and beautifully illustrated and one we read each year.

Lastly, our family hosts an Easter dinner each year after church and weather permitting, we eat outside on the deck. The kids help me decorate the table with fresh flowers, I use real dishes, and buy things like strawberry lemonade that we don’t normally purchase. Afterwards we do a small and simple egg hunt in our backyard.

This is such a special tradition and in fact, just yesterday my 7 year old told me how excited he was for Easter dinner.

We should have joy and love in our homes and part of that is not forgetting to have fun too! I hope this inspires you to create meaningful traditions for your family and be intentional surrounding the beautiful Easter season.

On this journey with you,

Rachel
